Our Story

Our family’s own positive experience with high school mentors, in academics, sports and theater, motivated us to start Role Model Mentors. As parents, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your children shine.

We discovered not long ago that this is a natural outcome when our kids are paired with role models who have worked hard toward their goals in their high school years.

It’s important to us that Role Model Mentors provides meaningful work to high achieving high school students, where young adults come to know that sharing their talents with elementary and middle school children has great value. On top of that, our community-based business model teaches mentors entrepreneurial skills and offers the opportunity to give back to their communities by donating their hours. We in turn make these hours available to families in need of mentoring without the means to pay through our scholarship program.

Role Model Mentors is a For Profit Social Enterprise (or FOPSE). This enables us to create and scale this amazing program, benefiting mentors, mentees, families and communities as a whole, while making it affordable. Our hourly rates are a fraction of the cost of professional tutors, sports training or music teachers.

We have no doubt families who sign on with Role Model Mentors will discover, like we did, the power of Positive+ Influence. It’s simply one of the most incredible ways to support your children’s unique needs and development and to help each child see, up close, real-life examples of confidence, character and success as a young adult.

A Note From

Whether you’re a parent of a potential mentee or an aspiring mentor, welcome to our website and thank you for exploring what Role Model Mentors has to offer.

You may be familiar with the old proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.”

Our mission is simple – to build a community service that becomes part of the “modern village,” supporting each and every child on their unique journey through school and life. We do this by helping younger students to understand their unique gifts, by building their competence and confidence, and by giving them someone to look up to, who demonstrates the importance of doing well in school, pursuing your passions and interests outside of school, and overcoming the challenges (social and otherwise) that invariably come your way.

Admission departments are increasingly looking to identify students with high “emotional intelligence,” which is widely recognized by academics and sociologists as a critical aspect of adult success and happiness.

At the same time, we also support the mentor, providing them with an entrepreneurial work experience that fits into their busy schedule, providing important development of capabilities including leadership, empathy, compassion and accountability. This experience is not only rewarding, it’s extremely valuable as they prepare to apply for and attend college.

We believe that everyone can use a role model, and have gone to great lengths to make our service as affordable as possible. Nevertheless, it still may be out of reach for some. If you are interested in a mentor for your child but are unsure if you can afford one, please get in touch with us. We will do our best to find you a mentor at a reduced cost or even no cost depending on the situation.

We want everyone to win with Positive+ Influences!
